Marine gearbox and off-highway driveline specialist Newage Transmissions Ltd has expanded its operations with the appointment of a new Scottish distributor DDZ Marine

Leading marine gearbox and off-highway driveline specialist, Newage Transmissions Ltd has expanded its operations north of the border with the appointment of a new Scottish distributor, DDZ Marine Ltd of Largs The appointment also reflects the growth of DDZ's business, by extending its commercial and pleasure craft repair services into the supply of OEM and spares equipment for the full range of PRM transmissions

According to DDZ's managing director Dino Zavaroni: "The new association with Newage represents a true 'win-win' situation.

PRM gearboxes have an excellent reputation for durability and performance.

They are ideal for vessels up to 65 ft and now Scottish users can get authorised maintenance and service without having to go south of the border.

"Business levels have grown significantly since gaining our distributorship.

As a result, we are looking to collaborate further with Newage to extend the network of PRM service agencies in Scotland over the coming months." "Anyone interested in becoming part of the team can find out more either by calling me on 01475 686072, or speaking to my colleague, Ian Oliver at Newage on 024 76 617141," he added.

DDZ Marine will also be flying the PRM flag at the forthcoming Fishing 2000 Exhibition to be held in Glasgow at the end of March.

The company will be featuring the all-new shallow gearcase version of the PRM1500 series gearbox on Stand A089, along with other members of the PRM range.

Carrying a Lloyd's approved published rating, the latest PRM model allows maximum input torque of 1500 Nm to be transmitted continuously in either direction at a maximum input speed of 2500 rev/min.

It is a twin countershaft design compatible with left or right hand propeller rotations and is available in six standard reduction ratios from 1.22:1 to 3.0:1.

Deep case versions of the PRM1500 incorporate twin stage reduction gearing to produce a 5.00:1 ratio that is ideal for trolling and deep sea trawling operation.

This model is also offered with three further double reduction ratios from 3.1:1 to 4.5:1, as standard.
