Rigid axle units aimed at 3 and 5 tonne vehicles
A re-developed range of heavy duty rigid axle units for off-highway and construction site vehicle applications has been announced by Coventry-based Newage Transmissions
"Newage is the dominant supplier of axles and gearboxes to the UK's dumper truck manufacturers", adds Townsend.
"Our products' reputation for reliability, durability and performance makes them ideal for many other hydrostatic or electrically powered vehicle applications too.
We have identified major potential in the shovel loader and aircraft ground support equipment sectors and are currently working hard to convert a number of pilot installations into firm orders".
"A further Newage strength is the ability to adapt existing models or to develop completely new products to meet customers' precise requirements", he adds.
"This is the basis of several new product developments, which will shortly extend the capabilities of our 'driveline solutions' range".

Born and educated in Warwickshire, Peter Townsend joined Leamington-based Automotive Products as an engineering apprentice in 1966.
He subsequently put this experience to good use by taking charge of the company's technician and craft apprentice training schemes.
He also held several product design and development posts, before joining AP's braking systems sales team in 1988.
Seven years later, he left the company to take up a senior sales position with Birmingham-based steering wheel manufacturer, UTA Clifford.
In 1996, Townsend became European Sales Manager at International Transmissions, a member of the JCB Excavators group.
He was subsequently promoted to International Sales Manager at the Wrexham-based driveline equipment manufacturer, prior to taking up his new appointment at Newage.
Married with one daughter, Townsend is a keen sportsman.
He previously played rugby and football at club level and is currently a 10-handicap golfer.
