Alstom commits to Nexans cables

Alstom has chosen Nexans as principal supplier of cables for both energy and telecommunications.

Alstom has chosen Nexans as principal supplier of cables for both energy and telecommunications.

The value of this 2-year framework contract could amount to Eur 24 million by 2004.

The cables Nexans is to supply are intended for Alstom's transport, naval construction, and energy production and distribution activities, fields in which it has become a world leader.

"Being part of Alstom's selected panel of priority suppliers is an honour for us, proving that the quality of Nexans' products is appreciated by its most demanding customers", said Yvon Raak, President of the Nexans energy division.

"This new contract encourages us to continue our efforts in research and development, service improvement and cost reduction".

Nexans and Alstom Marine Saint Nazaire have more than 10 years' co-operative experience in the "just-in-time" supply of cables for naval construction.

Their units in Lyon and Saint-Nazaire have become the pilot units in this partnership.
