Fasteners buck the trend and drop in price
Despite recent severe rises in raw material costs, Northern Precision is actually reducing prices to customers.
The directive controls the use of specified hazardous substances in electronic and electrical equipment and vehicles sold in Europe from 1st July 2006.
The materials specified are lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium and certain flame retardants used in plastics.
As a producer and supplier of fasteners for use throughout the sheet metal fabrication and electronics industries, Northern Precision is, says Steve Smith, committed to RoHS compliance and fully supports customers' compliance.
In terms of the use of lead, some turned components supplied by Northern Precision may contain lead as an alloying agent, specifically parts manufactured from EN1a Pb leaded steel (230M07 Pb).
However, these fall within the directive guidelines by containing no more than 0.35% lead by weight.
