Video measuring system takes on many more tasks
Nikon UK has developed its Nikon Excellent Intelligent Vision (NEXIV) video measuring system to meet a wide variety of individual measurement needs
Contact-free metrology for superabrasive maker
Nikon's advanced Nexiv non-contact, video metrology system is a jewel in the diamond-studded world of Gloucester based superabrasives manufacturer, Saint-Gobain Van Moppes
Of particular interest to precision engineers and companies involved in the semiconductor manufacturing industry, will be the first UK set-up of the sub-micron, contact free, video based, automated metrology system - NEXIV.
The recently installed unit has already attracted huge interest from potential buyers, owing to its ability to measure and repeat at sub-micron levels with unerring accuracy.
NEXIV installations have featured mainly in the electronics industry, but following a successful test and subsequent installation at Saint-Gobain Van Moppes Precision Engineering in Gloucester, NEXIV has undergone further software development and now offers unique levels of accuracy for high tolerance, demanding precision engineering applications.
In practice, the unit has proven to be more accurate than any previous systems employed by the company and, as shown in independent tests, is able to identify and measure sub-micron inaccuracies in finished components.
In fact, the NEXIV has been so successful at Saint-Gobain Van Moppes it is now promoted as a sales benefit to its own customers by the company's engineering sales team.
Robert Forster is Nikon's General Manager.
He commented, "our new metrology centre will enable us to show more customers and prospects the capability, accuracy and depth of the complete Nikon metrology range." He added, "our sales of NEXIV are increasing rapidly and we needed these dedicated demonstration facilities to allow us to personalise presentations using the customer's own samples." The complete range of Nikon equipment including the latest NEXIV, Measurescopes, Profile Projectors, Autocollimators, and popular Measuring Microscopes, can now be viewed and tested at the new facility.
