The new site, which is in the German town of Grossbettlingen and officially opened in September, will feature state-of-the-art test facilities including climate and vibration chambers, designed specially to simulate the harsh conditions pneumatics components must endure when fitted to CVs.
The focus of activity will be on the production and development of powertrain solutions such as control valve systems, integrated systems for gear boxes and turbos, which Norgren already supplies to such companies as DaimlerChrysler, Volvo, Scania and MAN.
Karlheinz Pfanz, head of new business for the Global Truck Group, comments: "From brakes to gears, control units to retarders, pneumatic components are absolutely key to the safe and reliable running of a commercial vehicle.
The combination of the expertise of our people and the facilities we will have at our disposal means we will be able to provide an unparalleled service to the truck and delivery vehicle sector".
Around 140 people will be employed at the site in Grossbettlingen, which will produce around 1.5 million products a year.
