Torque About Weighing Vessels
Measuring weight may be complicated by attached pipework, vibration and elevated temperature. This application note explains how to deal with the problem.
Designed for use in applications, such as winders, unwinders, rewinders, coaters, laminators and printing presses, these load cells eliminate drift and frequent recalibration problems encountered with conventional half-bridge semiconductor type load cells.
Precise accuracy with genuine "non-drift" signal stability is the result of the use of a full Wheatstone bridge, temperature compensated, strain gauge construction.
The GLT load cells are of a rugged compact size with high overload capacity and outline dimensions are identical to existing equipment, thereby providing simple, drop-in replacement.
These units perform superbly over a wide range of operating tensions and in applications with high roll weight/low tension ratios and/or wide range needs.
Factory calibration with matching output signals significantly simplifies installation, while ensuring long-term calibration reliability.
Field calibration is eliminated along with the need for on-site test weights and costly recalibration after initial setup.
Each load cell can be rotated to measure the resultant tension force, not just a component of force.
The full bridge electrical output of each load cell is calibrated within a tolerance of better than 0.25%.
When coupled with Vishay Nobel instrumentation, system calibration can be accomplished without using dead weights or other sources of known force.
Zero and span settings remain stable for tension forces operating at the low end of wide range applications.
Scribe marks allow for quick alignment of the GLT load cells with the resultant tension force.
Shaft misalignment of up to three degrees is accommodated.
Both frame and optional pillow block mounting configurations are available for dead shaft roller assemblies.
The all-stainless-steel GLT web tension load cells are available in capacities of 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500lb ratings and operate over a temperature range -40 to +105C.
Rated output is 2mV/V +/-0.25%, while nonlinearity and repeatability are 0.25 and 0.02% RO, respectively. Request a free brochure from Vishay Nobel ...
