new centre

Jargon buster cuts through the ATEX jungle
ABB has published an "ATEX jargon buster" that helps motor users cut through the jungle of terms and definitions that make up the new ATEX Directives.
The doors to the centre will be open between 0930 and 1600 GMT on Wednesday the 19th October 2005, with a focus on manufacturing improvements and cost reduction.
Director Steve Wilkinson says that it promises to be a real eye opener: "Thanks to our partnerships with technology providers we have got some of the very latest manufacturing technology on show, but this centre is all about using the technology to help industry - reducing costs, minimising waste, making things more effective and faster".
"Companies can receive expert assistance with their manufacturing problems - solutions are focused on the needs of their business".
The Northern Technologies Advanced Manufacturing Centre includes a huge working showcase of the latest manufacturing technology and a team of specialist staff providing technical expertise.
"If your business is involved in manufacture or engineering this really is a place you need to visit, see how it works and what it can do for you".
Lunch will be served from 1300 GMT, but visitors are welcome at any time throughout the day.
Booking is not necessary.
The centre is part of the new Lancashire Digital Technology Centre, and the whole site will be officially opened by the CBI Director General, Sir Digby Jones the following day.
Northern Technologies Advanced Manufacturing Centre is part of the Lancashire Digital Technology Centre, Bancroft Road, Burnley.
The centre's construction costs of £3.9 million have been funded by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), the European Regional Development Fund and Lancashire County Developments.
