Northwire, a manufacturer of cable for industrial networking, has introduced DataCell Field rugged bus cables for Profibus PA process automation networks.

This cable is appropriate for environments utilising networked process automation and control.

An arctic-rated marine shipboard version suitable for use down to -55C is also offered.

DataCell Field Profibus PA is ISP50 Type A cable available in 18AWG, with foil shielding.

It is rated for CSA CMX-Outdoor-CMG and FT4.

DataCell Field Profibus PA is also rated for ITC (instrument tray cable)/PLTC (power limited tray cable) exposed-run (ER) applications.

This allows users to eliminate the conduit when the cable is installed in accordance with recent National Electrical Code (NEC) amendments.

In 2002, the NEC was amended to allow exposed runs of certain tray cable and PLTC.

This code change is advantageous because metal-clad cable or conduit is no longer required, resulting in significant material and installation cost savings.

All Northwire ITC/PLTC cables are approved for use in Class 1 and 2, Div 2 hazardous areas.

The cable's PVC jacket is resistant to oil, sunlight, ozone and water and is available in standard and custom colours.

DataCELL FIELD Profibus PA cable is shipped directly from the factory and is available in bulk quantities of 1,000-feet minimum and can be shipped in 10 days or less.
