These include sponsoring local enterprise agency NORBIS, helping the establishment of Technology status for Banbury School and mentoring local school children.
The environmental award was made in recognition of Norbar's environmentally friendly working practices that go well beyond the requirements of legislation and demonstrate real environmental and social responsibility.
Environmental initiatives include the use of colophony free solder in its electronics production area, planting of 200 trees and shrubs around the plant and installing energy saving lighting around the factory.
The international business award is made to the business that can demonstrate strong export sales development and is meeting the challenges of international competition.
Norbar has seen the percentage of its output sold abroad steadily increase over the past 40 years to now stand at 67%.
It has actively developed new markets for its products in South America and South East Asia, and for the past four years all its sales literature has been produced in four languages.
The annual Banbury Business Awards are now in their fifth year, and are well supported by leading North Oxfordshire companies and suppliers.
"Fifty nine year in the town counts for a lot, but a business can be financially successful without giving anything back," said Norbar director Craig Brodey.
"Our commitment to Banbury has taken many forms over the years, and the thanks of the Board goes to all employees who have made the winning of these awards possible." Norbar pioneered the manufacturer of torque wrenches in the UK for use on aircraft engines during WWII, and the company has gone on to develop unrivalled expertise in the field of torque control and measurement.
