Prototyping services set to expand

A NPL Technologies product story

NPL is setting up a comprehensive machining service to complement its existing prototype business.

Customers have frequently suggested that NPL Technologies, the world's largest patternmaker, expands its prototyping business.

This is now in process and NPL is setting up a comprehensive machining service to complement its existing prototype business.

Already NPL has invested in a Tsugami Matchmaker five-axis horizontal machining centre with 21 pallets and a 180 tool changer, and an additional CNC co-ordinate measuring machine.

This will enable 24 hour a day machining from billet or castings.

The prototype area includes a clean-room facility for assembly and inspection of the finished machined components.

The machinery investment will also offer the opportunity for more and larger batch work and so reduce subcontract machining.

John Shaw, Business Development Manager, Prototyping, said: "Our customers have requested we provide a total prototyping service and so minimise subcontract work".

"As a result of our investment we are seeking new business for machining castings and components from aluminium and titanium billet".
