Nuneaton-based NPL Technologies has completed a major investment programme designed to put it in pole position to take on new development projects within the automotive, F1 and aerospace sectors.

NPL Technologies has completed a major investment programme designed to let it take on new development projects within the automotive, F1 and aerospace sectors.

The latest investment includes an Edel Cyport CP 5030 5-Axis gantry mill, with a table size of 8000 x 3000mm and a fourth secure, on-site studio, equipped with a larger work table and larger measuring facilities to offer greater flexibility.

It is equipped with a Stiefelmayer C-System duplex twin columns and arms system, 2.9m in height with a 2.1m reach on a 6 x 3m surface plate.

NPL Business Development Director John Argyle said that the investment programme means the company now offers more services and has more capacity than any UK-based competitor.

The company serves the automotive, motor sport, aerospace and medical industries, specialising in the design, development and manufacture of models, patterns, tools, moulds and components, in materials including tooling boards, tool steels and carbon fibre, all from its Nuneaton facility.

Argyle said: "The automotive sector in the West Midlands remains unrivalled on the world stage for quality and innovation and it is fighting back hard against the setbacks of recent years".

"Our customer base is growing rapidly, we are experiencing increasing opportunities from Europe and further afield and we are offering new craftsmanship processes to enable vehicle manufacturers and their first-tier suppliers to access all these services under one roof.

"As a result of this latest round of investment we now have 20 CNC machines, of which seven are true five-axis machines, giving us more capacity, more speed and the flexibility to complete programmes that cannot be handled by our UK competitors".

"With the recent investment in our UK facility and our studio in India, NPL is well-placed to offer the full range of craftsmanship services to many of the world's car manufacturers".

NPL is currently looking to recruit skilled personnel for its CAD, composites, inspection and administration teams and is also searching for additional CNC operators.
