Users of Noran's NEiWorks finite element analysis (FEA) software which is embedded in SolidWorks can now access and import material properties from information provider MatWeb.

Matweb has developed an online searchable database of over 50,000 materials that contains property values on the full range of engineering thermoplastics, thermosets, metals, super alloys, ceramics, semiconductors, fibres, and other engineering materials.

The MatWeb information can be directly downloaded easily and accurately into NEiWorks FEA software.

This will allow product development engineers to do virtual testing of their designs using finite element analysis for structural, thermal, and dynamic performance.

Access to the data base will be used to further speed up product design cycles and improve quality by providing a fast way to identify and validate the exact material needed to optimise a part design and satisfy quality assurance requirements.

Dave Weinberg, CEO of Noran Engineering, commented on the upgrade: "We are continually looking for ways to maintain NEiWorks as an outstanding FEA tool for SolidWorks users who need to do high level analysis and simulation".

"So we are pleased to provide access to the industry leading material database and service that MatWeb offers".
