Stainless steel guides handle high-tech
duties
NSK's new PU series of miniature precision linear guides enable OEMs serving "high-tech" industries to downsize their products and benefit from improved levels of performance and competitiveness.
NSK's new PU series of miniature precision linear guides enable OEMs serving "high-tech" industries, such as electronics, medical, testing and optical, to downsize their products and benefit from improved levels of performance and competitiveness Ideal for use in clean environments, the PU Series guides are 20% lighter than conventional equivalents, and are designed with resin recirculation circuits, which guarantee exceptionally smooth motion through reduced levels of vibration, friction and noise

Smooth guides to miniaturisation
PU series miniature precision linear guides enable OEMs in high-tech industries to downsize their products and improve competitiveness.
Guide helps users avoid bearing failures
Free publication deals with all aspects of bearing procedures, including handling of bearings, mounting, maintenance and inspection, dismounting and bearing storage.
The PU Series guides integrate the latest mechanical design, materials, sealing and lubrication technologies to achieve exceptional levels of super precise, smooth and low noise performance.
The design also offers high resistance to corrosion and dust ingress and long-term maintenance-free operation.
Unlike conventional designs of linear guides, the PU configuration incorporates resin recirculation circuits in the ball slider that allow gentler contact with the steel ball elements.

Positioning technology allows microscopic handling
NSK's micro-manipulation system features a three-axis (XYZ) positioning stage that facilitates the attachment of measuring devices, micromanipulators and microscopes for examining a preparation.
Guide eases bearing changes
The guide provides replacement part numbers for metric bearings in bore diameters from 2 to 220mm and imperial sizes from 1/8in bore to 57.15in.
This results in improved dynamic friction characteristics and smoother motion of the slider on the rail.
In addition, the elimination of metal-to-metal contact between the balls and the recirculation holes means that the PU Series generates less dust than conventional designs and, as the main causal factor of noise is reduced, is also much quieter in operation.
The PU Series with its martensitic stainless steel construction is ideally suited to the harsh and corrosive environments routinely encountered in high technology manufacturing.
The design of the guides incorporates side seals to both faces of the ball slide as a standard feature against dust ingress.
Moreover, there is also added protection in the form of a labyrinth structure on the bottom face of the ball slider.
This provides the user with the equivalent of what is, in effect, an underseal on the guide unit.
Complementing the action of the underseal in ensuring long-life, maintenance-free performance is NSK's optional K1 lubrication unit.
The K1 is designed to provide consistent lubrication, extending maintenance free periods, even under heavy loads and in the presence of contaminants.
It also offers the benefits of extended lubricant life, outperforming forced oil lubrication, and eliminates both the environmental and maintenance costs related to the supply and disposal of conventional oil lubricants.
The PU guides are manufactured to four accuracy standards: ultra precision (P3), super precision (P4), precision (P5) and semi-precision (P6), and two levels of preload are available: slight (Z1) and fine clearance (Z0).
They are available in three rail widths of 9, 12 and 15mm.
Maximum single rail lengths for the guides range from 600 to 1000mm and maximum dynamic load capacities from 1180 to 4300N. Request a free brochure from NSK UK ...
