Publication helps prevent bearing failures

A NSK UK product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 30, 2008

NSK has brought out the New Bearing Doctor publication for assisting factory managers and maintenance engineers in identifying and preventing bearing failures to avoid production downtime.

The free publication has thirty-five pages and is divided into seven sections.

These deal with all aspects of bearing operation, including care and handling, mounting, lubrication and maintenance, types of bearing damage and countermeasures that can be adopted.

All of the sections are easy to assimilate and are complemented by charts and graphs that provide at-a-glance information on such factors as bearing irregularities and their possible causes, selection of lubricants for different applications, relation between oil viscosity and temperature and grease replacement intervals.

The New Bearing Doctor has twenty-three pages devoted to colour images of bearings that have failed.

Each image is accompanied by a description of the failure and its cause.
