Synthetic fluid boosts lubricant
performance
Experimental synthetic greases formulated at Nye for CV joints and automotive electrical connectors suggested that alkylated naphthalene (AN) blendstocks offer a value proposition OEMs want.
Experimental synthetic greases formulated at Nye for CV joints and automotive electrical connectors suggested that alkylated naphthalene (AN) blendstocks offer a value proposition OEMs want: breakthrough lubricant performance without budget-busting cost Through blending with typical synthetic hydrocarbon base oils whose normal temperature capability extends to +125C, this upper limit can be extended to +175C
Blending has also been shown to improve antiwear performance and the AN fluids also display excellent additive solvency and improved seal compatibility performance.
Although ANs can cost more than some traditional synthetic hydrocarbons, using such a blend allows synthetic hydrocarbons to deliver the performance benefits of more expensive oils at a fraction of the cost.
