Embedded motion control extends to more axes

A Nyquist Industrial Control product story

Nyquist Industrial Control has added two new members to its NYCe3000 family: the NY3522 and NY3542 can control five and ten axes, respectively.

Nyquist Industrial Control has added two new members to its NYCe3000 family: the NY3522 and NY3542 can control five and ten axes, respectively.

The control is fully synchronous and because the modules have a comprehensive I/O functionality, an IEEE1394 network link, and PC/104 expansion options, the system can be used for a wide range of purposes.

Their modularity and flexibility make the NY3522 and NY3542 the ideal platform for OEM and system integrator applications.

The underlying system architecture combines Windows-based PCs with real-time motion control.

The PC is connected to the motion controller via a standard FireWire IEEE1394 network.

This architecture optimises the use of PC technology while at the same time the amount of machine cabling is significantly reduced.

The product also allows for standard PC modules to communicate with higher-level systems via Ethernet, Profibus and so on.

By linking several NY3522 and NY3542 modules, it is possible to control up to 64 synchronised axes.

NYCe's extremely comprehensive application program interface (API) simplifies the programming of motions and the complex interactions between the axes that these entail.

The installation, configuration and programming tools are all part of the NYCeLauncher toolkit.

Among other applications, these tools allow for easy tuning of the axes and for the realisation of kinematical controls.
