Novel sheath material protects thermocuples

An Omega Engineering product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 10, 2002

Omega has developed a new mineral-insulated thermocouple sheath.

Omega has developed a new mineral insulated thermocouple sheath.

The material called Super Omegaclad XL is nickel-chrome based, which provides excellent oxidation and chlorination resistance.

It can withstand long-term exposure to combustion gases or air at temperatures up to 1335C with very little drift of the base metal thermocouple.

This new sheath is available in many standard thermocouple styles with type K or N calibration.

In addition, Omega will design and manufacture to suit individual requirements.
