Available from OEM Automatic is a novel Microbox-format capacitive distance and level sensor developed by SIE Sensorik Apart from the compact dimensions of 34 x 16 x 8mm, the new device also excels in terms of ease of installation

The sensor itself has two 3mm mounting holes which are countersunk on both sides, enabling the sensor to be mounted and locked into place using M3 countersunk screws.

The multipurpose adapter (bracket) that is supplied with every sensor can be used in conjunction with commercially available industrial cable ties to securely mount the sensor to hoses, pipes and tanks.

The Microbox sensor in its standard format can be used to detect materials and liquids through tank walls made of plastic or glass.

Thanks to the compact dimensions and multipurpose cable outlet of the unit they are also suited for positional tasks, eg in an assembly table.

With a sensing distance of 1-8mm, the Microbox sensor is the technical equivalent to an M18 model, but with far more compact dimensions.

Also with the multipurpose adapter the sensor can be used as a leakage detection device.

The FSA Microbox sensor uses SIE's innovative SmartLevel Technology that makes it an ideal level sensor for all aqueous media and conductive liquids.

The sensor is able to effectively suppress dirty material deposits or foam formation above the liquid level.

The sensor also possesses almost total resistance of dewing effects on the inside and outside walls of the tank.

In standard applications the FSA Microbox can normally be used with the preset factory settings although for applications previously regarded as difficult or impossible the sensor can be tuned using the potentiometer.

The Microbox sensor housing is made of polypropylene.

This material has a high resistance to chemicals and has been adopted by the chemical industry and at tank and equipment manufactures.

The LED indicator is located within the translucent housing for protection and the unit is sealed to IP67 as standard.

The sensitivity adjustment can be made using the fine-adjustment 10-turn potentiometer.

A cover to protect against unintended adjustment protects the potentiometer's setscrew.

The Microbox is available in both NPN and PNP output type and N/O and N/C switching.
