Power relay removes the need for a heatsink

An OEM Automatic product story

Thanks to silent operation Crouzet's hybrid power relay is the ideal switching component for applications where absence of noise is of paramount importance.

A hybrid power relay from Crouzet combines solid state switching technology and electromechanical load carrying properties.

When the control input is activated an electronic switching component establishes the load circuit while absorbing transient peaks.

A few ms later, an electromechanical relay short-circuits the electronic component in order to maintain the circuit.

This means there is no power to be dissipated and hence no need for a heatsink.

Optimum relay service life is achieved as the usual causes of contact wear are absorbed by the electronic power component.

When the control signal is removed the opposite of the opening cycle occurs.

Thanks to silent operation the relay is the ideal switching component for applications where absence of noise is of paramount importance, such as distribution equipment for hospital environments, heating in domestic environments and vending, ventilation, lighting and air conditioning in the commercial sector.
