Optical frame sensor handles tough environments

An OEM Automatic product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 16, 2007

The FS optical frame sensor from STM has been developed from its RLS frame sensor range.

Optical frame sensors are often used in applications where there are falling metal parts or in an environment where there may be exposure to oil produced during the manufacturing process.

The FS series from STM has been developed from its RLS frame sensor range.

The optical elements are slightly recessed to protect them from being hit by parts falling through the frame.

The frame is sealed to IP67 and features an impervious oil seal.

This makes it ideal for use in harsh environments such as counting parts in reject control applications.

Despite its robustness, the FS series has a resolution of up to 1mm.
