Spring arm prevents encoder damage

An OEM Automatic product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 17, 2007

Kubler has developed a spring arm that limits loading on the shaft, avoiding a major cause of encoder damage.

The main cause of damage to encoders is loading on the shaft.

This is a particular issue when using encoders and measuring wheels for linear measurement.

A fluctuation in material position or thickness causes stress in the bearing and reduces encoder life.

Kubler has developed a spring arm that limits loading on the shaft, eliminating this problem.

The arm is pre-tensioned to a maximum of 40N, which enables it to be mounted either above or below the belt.

The measuring wheel can then be applied directly to the belt, roller, shaft or material being measured.
