Software upgrade provides materials support
DWGdirect 2.6 adds materials support to the rendering pipeline, includes a new DRX enabler for DWG files exported by Autodesk Inventor and contains support for newly added DWG 2009 system variables.
Early look at open CAD format
DWGdirect 2.5 Beta gives ODA members an early look at the newest DWGdirect libraries and the ability to provide feedback before the completed version is released.
Its products and services are targeted at small- to medium-sized enterprises and individuals with limited resources but a need for high-performance software tools, but they have also found favour in larger organisations and in OEM applications.
"Wilfried Graebert, the founder of Felix, was a pioneer in the DWG-compatible CAD market," said Evan Yares, President of the Open Design Alliance.
"As a founding-level member of the Alliance, Felix will be working closely with us in the further development and optimisation of out software tools, including DWGdirect - our advanced program library supporting the OpenDWG 2005 standard." Felix is one of the first companies to have developed a DWG-compatible AutoCAD "workalike" product.
Felix has two main product lines: FelixCAD, which is an AutoCAD workalike product running under Microsoft Windows, and CeCAD, which runs on the PocketPC under Microsoft WindowsCE.
Felix's existing products are based on the OpenDWG Toolkit, the Alliance's widely-used C language program library, which provides DWG, DXF, and DWF compatibility with versions of AutoCAD up 2002.
As a founding member of the Alliance, Felix will start working with DWGdirect, the Alliance's advanced object-oriented program library, which provides data compatibility with versions of AutoCAD up to and including the soon-to-be-released version 2005.
