BricsCad joins alliance

An Open Design Alliance product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 31, 2005

BricsCad has joined the Open Design Alliance as a Founding Member.

The Open Design Alliance, a not-for-profit industry consortium committed to promoting open industry-standard formats for the exchange of CAD data, today announced that BricsCad has joined as a Founding Member.

BricsCad, a leading developer and supplier of DWG-based software, recently released BricsCad V6, powered by IntelliCAD, an application designed to be a practical alternative to AutoDesk's AutoCAD.

"The Open Design Alliances software libraries have helped us to consistently improve the quality of our products and to closely follow the evolution of the DWG format", said Erik De Keyser, CEO of BricsCad.

BricsCad is a significant addition to the growing list of CAD developers and vendors that have become Founding Members of the Alliance.

"Our continued membership growth, seven years after our founding, is a validation of the critical need for independent support for de facto interoperability standards", said Evan Yares, President of Open Design Alliance.

"Our tools allow software developers to provide long-term support for the most widely accepted CAD data formats".

"For BricsCad, now is the right time to take the next step and become a Founding Member of the Alliance", continued De Keyser.

"BricsCad V6 offers a high degree of compatibility with AutoCAD applications whether they are for single users, small businesses, or large corporations".

"As a Founding Member of the Alliance, we can now work even more closely together, to benefit all our customers".

"Our development team has deep knowledge of DWG, and we look forward to contributing to the Alliance".

Available in nine languages with Chinese the most recent, BricsCad V6 has become a worldwide alternative for AutoCAD.

The package is available in two versions Classic and Pro and runs on both Windows and Linux platforms.

BricsCad also developed the award-winning BricsCad Architecturals, a 3D BIM (building information modelling) software product compatible with both AutoCAD and BricsCad V6, and in 2004, successfully launched BricsCad Vista, a professional Internet-based communication, collaboration and project management system.

BricsCad products are used worldwide and are represented in over 60 countries.
