New to OKW's established Plug Case range is a version that has been inverted to provide extra space in tight spots, so giving a still more versatile product range.

Plug Cases are so named because they are compact enclosures or cases with integral plugs that plug into mains wall sockets.

The cases can contain voltage transformers or current control devices and can be used to modulate, for example, the current supply to other devices such as control circuits and switches.

The original Plug Case design was arranged with the plug at the top with the main body of the case extending below.

The latest variant inverts this arrangement so that the main body of the case extends above the plug, so giving extra space.

This is a particularly useful feature where Plug Case is installed into a wall socket near to the floor.

Use of the new version ensures that no interference with the floor occurs.

The UK style of Plug Case, to BS 1363, comes with an access port in the electronics section of the case.

There are in all, six styles: UK; German; French, Swiss, US and Euro.

All are of the same basic configuration, though the French and German styles can also be ordered with an integral socket in the top as well.

UK Plug Cases are made from flame and impact-resistant material according to UL 94 V-0 and standard colours are off-white (RAL 9002) for the tops and pebble grey (RAL 7032) for the bases and plug section.

Case assembly is by self-tapping screws and there are integral moulded fastening pillars for PCB mounting within.

There are four versions of UK plug case (including the standard and inverted plug) ranging from 120 x 65 x 40mm to 120 x 65 x 65mm.

For more information on the Plug Cases, including the catalogue PDF files, see OKW's Website at: www.okw.co.uk/catalogue/plastic/info_pages/pluginfo.htm OKW Enclosures provides a customisation service from its Fareham base.

Lacquering, silk-screen printing and many other special services can be provided.

One that was recently applied to Plug Case involved machining each case to take a window for an infra-red sensor.

This particular application was for room occupancy detection in old people's homes.
