Speedy access to plastic components
New systems introduced by injection moulding and plastics parts specialist Omega Plastics have reduced conventional timescales for the production of plastic parts.
New techniques and improved operational processes have streamlined operations at Omega Plastics, so that finished plastic components can be delivered in as few as 12 days compared with the industry's usual 4-6 weeks Omega Plastics has been working on this project for around 18 months

Novel composite improves prototyping performance
Accelerated Technologies can now produce rapid prototypes in a new, ceramic-filled material for stereolithography.
It has worked closely with North East universities, suppliers and its own people to achieve this.
The new fast-track process has already been piloted with selected industry partners.
Using a highly systemised approach, called "Fits M-base technology", Omega has combined logistical and technology improvements with new ways of working to achieve a finished part in 12 days.
Omega originally introduced the concept of "super tool-makers" when it first arrived in the UK back in 1998.
The emphasis with this latest innovation has again been on the company's people and operational systems.
The new, faster plastic part production service is likely to appeal to customers manufacturing consumer durables, medical devices and niche automotive parts where time to market is a critical success factor.
When Omega was first established in the UK in 1998 it successfully reduced tool-making times from 16 weeks to six weeks.
By delivering parts to customers in days rather than weeks, this latest development reinforces Omega's leading position in the plastics injection moulding market place.
Omega Plastics' Chairman, Robin Mackie, said: "The 12-day part will revolutionise the rapid product development market and has clear advantages as the most favourable option for customers who value speed, quality and service".
"This is a cultural step change for the sector, we are suddenly talking in terms of days not weeks - and that is a major shift".
