"The opportunity to work on every aspect of the mould tool, including design, machining, fitting and prove-out is the key reason for coming back to Omega", he says.
"The system creates a challenging environment but at the same time it provides a greater variety of work and instils a greater element of pride as you are responsible entirely for the finished mould".
"With people like Mark, who is a time-served toolmaker with 15 years experience under his belt, it would be crazy to stifle the talent on tap by limiting his involvement to specific elements of the toolmaking process", says Gordon Styles, Omega Plastics' Managing Director.
Omega Plastics differs from other rapid toolmaking companies in that it places much greater emphasis on the skills of the master mouldmakers it employs to be central to the business' success.
The usual practice is for mouldmakers to specialise in certain aspects of the mould manufacture, without anyone being in control of the ultimate end product.
However, Omega gives the complete project over to its master mouldmakers, who liaise with customers as required and control the entire process from start to finish.
This, in turn, reduces potential for errors or misunderstandings and helps to maintain the rapid response that Omega is equipped to provide.
