Drive adds DeviceNet to its options

Omron has introduced a DeviceNet option card for its industry standard 3G3MV open loop vector control inverters, which are part of the comprehensive Sysdrive inverter family.
"DeviceNet has for some time been adopted as a major Fieldbus by automation users" notes Omron's Business Development Manager Robert Brooks, "and as a response we have implemented this simple to use system in the 3G3MV inverter.
This new release allows users to build DeviceNet systems incorporating PLC, temperature controllers and remote I/O." The 3G3MV is one of the most popular of the Sysdrive inverter family, fast becoming a natural choice for automation systems engineers.
It covers the power range 0.1-7.5kW in single and three-phase versions, has a built-in operator and a footprint filter, and is CE, UL and cUL compliant.
There is a full set of protection functions and the 3G3MV has excellent monitoring and diagnostics functions to aid commissioning and fault finding.
This specification makes it ideal for applications from simple pump and fan drives to the more demanding requirements of, say, mechanical handling and automated packaging and also for safety critical applications such as hoisting and lifting.
"With its user assignable inputs and outputs, the 3G3MV is very easy to set up and run.
The advanced features such as vector control, PID and energy optimisation means users are getting both performance and functionality," says Brooks.
Other features the Omron drives development team have built into the Sysdrive 3G3MV include RS 232 and 485 communications; motor thermal protection; skip frequencies; 16 speed settings, DC braking and S-ramp acceleration/deceleration.
