Knowledge engineering for the lift
industry
Lift engineers constantly need to draw on their suppliers' experience in lift installation and commissioning, and Omron's Knowhow system aims to make this knowledge available
Lift engineers constantly need to draw on their drives supplier's broad experience in lift installation and commissioning The drive design team should be able to ensure that information and operating parameters are easily accessable and properly annotated (usually via a plain text display) so that installation, commissioning and maintenance are as easy as possible

Distribution boxes simplify field connections
Multiport distribution boxes simplify the applied wiring of sensor actuators, enabling multiple connections in an area with just one connection going back to the controller.
Snap mounting eases sensor installation
The novel mounting system used with E3FZ sensors completely eliminates the need for nuts and screws.
However, as the trend towards third party outsourcing and concurrent engineering continues, all organisations within the supply chain are increasingly reliant upon the flow of expertise and experience along the chain.
They are adversely affected if that knowhow is unavailable or inaccurate.
Cases often occur where practical and technical experience needs to be accessed by various members of the supply chain, in order to solve each lifting application successfully.
Omron have invested considerably to address this requirement, and have developed a PC-based tool that allows everyone in the supply chain, from designer to end user, to access relevant information when and where they need it.
This software package, named Knowhow, ensures costs, resources and lift availability are optimised.
Its not just the control components that make up the system; just as important is the supply of expertise and experience.
Various 'silos' of information exist within the package, including: Technical Reference, Design, Training and Technical Support.
Using the 'authoring' version of the package, each member of the supply chain can add their own 'knowhow' into the library of information.
A powerful search tool then enables information from the various sources to be easily accessed by anyone concerned with the project.
Using this tool, end users, installers, equipment suppliers and systems integrators alike can positively influence the flow and integrity of expertise, creating a unique customer support system and facilitating effective knowledge transfer and management.
