Simple amplifiers make fibre optic
sensing easy
A new range of fibre-optic amplifiers claims to make the benefits of fibre-optic sensing available without the complexity and cost associated with earlier generation products
Ease of use, combined with features which have been carefully tailored to meet the needs of standard applications, are the key characteristics of the new E3X-NA fibre-optic amplifiers from Omron Electronics The introduction of these new units means that the benefits of fibre-optic sensing, which include precise detection and the ability to mount the amplifier remotely from the sensing location, are now available without the complexity and cost associated with earlier generation products

Distribution boxes simplify field connections
Multiport distribution boxes simplify the applied wiring of sensor actuators, enabling multiple connections in an area with just one connection going back to the controller.
Snap mounting eases sensor installation
The novel mounting system used with E3FZ sensors completely eliminates the need for nuts and screws.
The new E3X-NA amplifiers, which are compatible with all of the extensive range of Omron fibre-optic sensing heads, are set up simply by rotating the multi-turn sensitivity adjuster with a screwdriver, while the amplifier's status is indicated on an integral LED bar graph display.
This display clearly shows the switching point and indicates when the sensor is operating in its stable setting range, for increased user confidence.
All models in the range make use of Omron's advanced sensing technology, which allows them to combine stable operation over long ranges with exceptionally fast response times.
To ensure compatibility with the widest range of applications, without introducing unnecessary complexity in individual units, Omron offers E3X-NA fibre-optic amplifiers in a choice of 12 models.
These include basic pre-wired types with NPN or PNP outputs, high-speed versions and mark sensing versions, together with pre-wired and plug-in IP66 versions for use in demanding environments.
All types incorporate a timer which provides an optional off delay.
E3X-NA sensors are also available in versions which incorporate Omron's unique master/slave wiring option.
This wiring system enables up to 16 amplifiers to be mounted together, with power only needing to be supplied to the first in line.
Power is then distributed to all the others by the interface connectors used in conjunction with the amplifiers.
This arrangement produces big savings in wiring time, as well as reducing the risk of wiring errors.
It also makes the installation easy to expand, as additional amplifiers are simply plugged into the last unit in the existing group, without the need for any additional power wiring. Request a free brochure from Omron Electronics ...
