Curtains for traditional safety sensors

E3FS photoelectric safety sensors allow protection comparable to that provided by a safety light curtain to be achieved, without the mounting limitations imposed by traditional light curtain products.

The new E3FS photoelectric safety sensors from Omron Electronics allow protection comparable to that provided by a safety light curtain to be achieved, without the mounting limitations imposed by traditional light curtain products The new sensors have standard M18 cylindrical bodies, which means that they require far less space for installation than ordinary light curtains, and that they can be easily fitted using standard mounting brackets

E3FS safety sensors work on the through-beam principle, and have a maximum operating range of 10m, allowing users maximum flexibility in choice of mounting position, and making it easy to achieve protection extending over large areas.

Rugged construction, with a choice of metal or plastic bodies, and an IP67 protection rating mean that the sensors are suitable for use in even the most demanding industrial applications.

The sensors feature integral LED indicators which provide rapid visual confirmation of status, and are available in a choice of prewired or M12 plug-in versions.

Omron's new photoelectric safety sensors may be used as stand-alone devices, provided that they are connected to suitably designed safety circuitry, or in conjunction with Omron's versatile DIN-rail mounting F3SP safety control unit.

Used with this unit, the new sensors provide Category 2 protection for personnel, as defined in EN61496-1 and -2.

Up to four pairs of E3FS safety sensors may be connected to each F3SP control unit, providing exceptional flexibility in the configuration of the protected area.

The F3SP also has four muting inputs, each of which can be used to mute one or more of the safety sensors to allow, for example, material to enter a protected area without stopping the machinery.

F3SP control units offer dual control outputs, permitting the easy implementation of redundancy checking, and are equipped with LED indicators for each output, and for the sensor inputs.

In addition, a seven-segment display provides status and diagnostic information, and the units are supplied with a separate indicator lamp to show when muting is in operation. Request a free brochure from Omron Electronics ...
