Flexibility and ease of use, thanks to powerful, advanced software tools, are the hallmarks of the new high-performance F219 vision inspection system from Omron Electronics.

The F210 can be used during manufacturing to inspect a wide variety of targets, from the position of components on PCBs to complex automotive assemblies and precision medical devices.

It is easy to set up and configure, thanks to user-friendly menus, and it uses advanced algorithms to ensure very fast, precise inspection performance.

In addition, an advanced macro functions software package is optionally available for OEMs and system integrators who want to customise their own applications.

The F210 comes with a flow-menu configuration software package (F250-UM3FE) that enables standard inspection tasks to be easily configured via the graphical user interface (GUI).

Flow menus select the required processing items from the library, and combine and link them for the user.

This software optimises measurement images, performs measurements according to workpiece tolerance, and checks periodically for data variations.

The standard software package comes with approximately 70 different processing functions.

During setup of an inspection task, any combination of processing functions can be selected from the menu.

OEMs or system integrators looking for customised vision system solutions will appreciate the enhanced functionality and flexibility of the F210's macro functions software option.

It allows the user to enhance flow menus by creating macro programs using only a PC text editor.

With macros, users can create your own application-specific vision system, and customise displays, I/O controls, and the user interface.

This software option also lets you create customised operation flows by using a basic type of programming language, in which nearly every system function can be accessed and manipulated.

Further, combining the system with an Omron NS series HMI allows the user to set up a comprehensive user interface, incorporating operator-linked access levels.

The NS importantly incorporates a video input option that allows the NS HMI to act as the vision monitor, therefore allowing the operator to monitor and record inspection results, and it confirms, in real time, any adjustments made to the inspection system.

Advanced algorithms in the F210 ensure that the inspection performance is fast and ultraprecise.

These algorithms include edge code technology, Omron's unique Quest optical character recognition and verification, and a fine matching tool algorithm.

The F210 also features trend monitoring for inspection analysis, and a CompactFlash slot that enables analysis data (controller settings) and measurement images to be stored for later evaluation and reference.

Two cameras can be connected to the F210 to perform different inspection tasks, at different locations, at the same time.

Omron is, in fact, one of the very few companies to offer this kind of flexibility in a vision inspection system.
