Interface promises effective machine
monitoring

The NT3S series offers powerful, freely programmable functionality on a small touch screen user interface, and combines this with comprehensive graphics for effective machine monitoring.

For applications that would benefit from more functionality than mechanical pushbuttons and lamps or a simple function key terminal can provide, but where the cost of a full-fledged graphics HMI cannot be justified, Omron has developed the innovative NT3S series The NT3S series offers powerful, freely programmable functionality on a small touch screen user interface, and combines this with comprehensive graphics for effective machine monitoring

"Function keys" can be created and positioned anywhere on the screen and systems designers can use up to nine different languages for the labels of buttons and other objects.

Thus a single project can be used in different countries.

As well as text buttons, the NT3S can show different kinds of bargraphs and trend graphs, as well as analogue meters to monitor values of connected devices.

The range, angle and shading can all be user-defined for best effect.

A range of graphics for buttons and lamps are provided in a library, and the NT3S also lets designers import their own bitmap images.

The NT3S can monitor up to 256 alarms in 16 different groups.

With the onboard real-time clock, alarms can be shown not only with text, but also with time, date and status, and a password protection feature can ensure that only authorised personnel can acknowledge an alarm.

A powerful feature of the NT3S is the "gateway" functionality that allows users to connect and operate two devices with two different protocols at the same time, and transfer data from one device to the other through NT3S's copy function.

As an example, the NT3S could read data from a PLC and copy it to a drive, for instance to change the speed of the drive.

With drivers for most PLCs, inverters and servo drives provided, the gateway functionality can save many hours of writing and setting up a serial interface protocol for the devices being used.

The NT3S can also be connected directly to the Omron XtraDrive - a powerful, intelligent servo - enabling users to change parameters, monitor variables and alarms, and run/stop/jog drive without the need for a PC or PLC.

With its IP65 design, 4.1in monochrome STN LCD and up to two universal serial ports, the NT3S is a compact, powerful, flexible and economical HMI.

Development software is available for download, free of charge, from the Omron website. Request a free brochure from Omron Electronics ...
