Servo series is simpler answer

The XtraDrive servo series provides machine builders with a much simplified solution, offering cost savings through having the position controller built into the servo driver.

The XtraDrive servo series from Omron is not only designed to provide an answer to the ever increasing demands for faster response, higher accuracy and exceptional reliability the machine builder is faced with every day, but also offers the choice of specifying a much simplified solution offering cost savings through having the position controller built into the servo driver.

The XtraDrive range offers all of the benefits of tried and trusted servo technology, but combined with a simple to program position controller.

Two versions are now available, the first a servo drive and position controller combined, the second additionally offering Profibus connectivity allowing information to be easily shared with other areas within the system.

Furthermore, enhanced control algorithms that are handled automatically within the drive with no expert knowledge required, provide the tightest servo control, providing near zero settling time or tracking error, beneficial in a host of applications ranging from pick and place and insertion machines through to labelling.

The programming environment is provided by XtraWare, and provides access to not only simple position control tasks, but also more complex functions including master-slave and e-cam.

The language is a form of Basic, familiar to many engineers.

As well as controlling Omron servomotors, the XtraDrive can be set to control virtually any other supplier's servomotors, provided certain basic information is known.

In addition, Omron linear motors can also be controlled via XtraDrive.

The XtraDrive range has been designed as always with ease of use in mind, and the inbuilt operator and autotune ensure the system is operating correctly in the minimum of time.

The XtraDrive series has ratings from 30 to 800W with single-phase input, and up to 5kW with three-phase input.
