PLC option cards complement inverter
drives

Easy-to-fit PCB type PLC option cards are now available from Omron.

Easy-to-fit PCB-type PLC option cards are now available from Omron They have been designed to complement the F7, E7 and L7 series of three-phase inverter drives, and transform them into a complete and versatile automation system which, in many applications, will enable all of the necessary control functions to be carried out including the control of remote I/O and connection of an HMI operator interface

The design of the PLC option capitalises on Omron's extensive and proven experience with both drives and PLCs, and brings major new benefits that include space and hence cost savings, compared with using a separate PLC with the drive, as well as the elimination of wiring between the PLC and the drive, which not only cuts wiring time, but also eliminates the risk of errors.

The use of the option PCB allows complete control of the inverter parameters and hardware.

The PLC is programmed using standard off-the-shelf Omron programming tools, already familiar to many PLC users.

The PLC is designed to control up to 256 I/O remotely, using Omron's proven Compobus/S technology, and furthermore a version is available to allow the PLC to sit within the wider automation network via DeviceNet connectivity.

Specific functions include encoder input, interrupt inputs and pulse outputs, adding to the versatility of the unit in a wide range of applications including hoists, cranes, palletisers, winders, pump sequencers and mechanical handling systems.

Both the F7 and E7 series inverter drives are available in sizes up to 300kW - the F7 being an open/closed loop vector drive, and the E7 aimed specifically at the energy efficiency market. Request a free brochure from Omron Electronics ...
