An OPC Foundation product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 15, 2006

DevCon 2006 aims to educate software architects/developers, system integrators, OPC product developers and potential end users of the latest OPC specification.

The OPC Foundation and the Institute for Information Technology (ITM) are holding a three day international developers conference dedicated to the latest OPC Unified Architecture specification.

DevCon 2006 will take place in Munich from 10th to 12th October 2006 and is aimed at educating software architects/developers, system integrators, OPC product developers and potential end users of this latest OPC specification.

OPC Unified Architecture (UA) defines secure, reliable interoperability for exchanging data and information between the factory floor and the enterprise.

The open, cross platform, service-oriented architecture builds on and unifies existing, successfully-adopted OPC Foundation interfaces.

UA was developed collaboratively by over thirty OPC vendors as well as many other standards consortia who have committed to producing UA companion specifications.

These "companion" specifications describe the standard way to expose and exchange the data and information models defined by these other organisations, using UA as the interoperable transport mechanism.

DevCon 2006 conference is to be held at the Technische Universitaet, Munich, Germany.

The event will feature papers and presentations directly from the creators of UA and enable delegates to quickly become proficient with the OPC Unified Architecture.

Delegates will have the opportunity to understand the business model (the who, what, when, where and why of the OPC Unified Architecture), an overview of all the components and specifications, an overview of all the technology used to deploy OPC Unified Architecture products and solutions, plus a detailed look into the core of Unified Architecture and all the corresponding technology that is available for vendors to truly build best-of-breed OPC Unified Architecture products and solutions.

Places on the conference are available at $695 (roughly Eur 540) and interested parties should go to the OPC Foundation website for further information and also to register.

Presentations will be given in English language only.
