With its Hypermill computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software, Open Mind has become one of the first CAM solution providers to receive official certification for Autodesk's latest CAD system release, Inventor 7.
Under its Inventor Certified Application programme, Autodesk guarantees that third-party applications offer seamless interoperability with Inventor CAD systems.
Partner products bearing the logo must fulfil particular guidelines and test criteria, including ensuring that their products are provided to a consistently high level and that they are compatible with updates and new Autodesk releases.
Certified applications are fully integrated into the Inventor user interface, and support and training are provided according to established guidelines.
Hypermill version 7 seamlessly integrates into Autodesk Inventor series CAD programs, so the CAM software never acts like an addon but become an integral part of the CAD system, allowing users to continue working in a familiar environment.
The integration of Hypermill V7 in the Autodesk Inventor series is available in the former's Classic, Pro and Expert software versions.
With the latest release of Hypermill, Open Mind has put the accent on increased productivity, user-friendliness and greater safety.
The ability to adapt to a user's level of knowledge as well as prevent mistakes makes beginners faster because they enjoy a high level of support, while experts also become more efficient as they can control the options and switch off functions they do not need.
All input forms are designed to 'streamline' themselves dynamically with each new parameter entered, the effect being that only options meaningful in combination with the previously entered values are available for selection.
Collision protection is one of Open Mind's specialties and encompasses both the cutter and toolholder, even in five-axis applications, a sector in which the company leads the field.
Its CAD/CAM solutions alert the user to potential risks right from the start and even perform interference checks during programming, suggesting intelligent alternatives to avoid crashes.
High-speed cutting is another area where Open Mind offers leading technological solutions.
Hypermill V7 integrates innovative and proven functions such as new cycles for trochoidal roughing to optimise material removal as well as tool life, especially at higher axis feed rates and spindle speeds.
