Company launches OPC training

An OPC Training Institute product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 4, 2007

OPC Training Institute's new workshops provide a theoretical background to its technology.

OPC Training Institute (OPCTI) has launched hands-on OPC training classes.

These training workshops provide people in the industrial automation, manufacturing, and military field with a theoretical background in OPC technology.

Attendees also gain practical hands-on experience that they can immediately apply at their job.

OPC is an industrial software standard that enables automation and manufacturing control applications, such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and software applications, to communicate with each other using an interoperable, reliable and secure connection.

OPC is governed by the OPC Foundation.

Over 3000 companies develop OPC software with well over 15,000 OPC applications.

OPC is based on Microsoft's COM/DCOM platform and .NET technology.

"Companies are looking for ways to reduce the risk and integration time associated with automating their manufacturing process", says Randy Kondor, Training Manager at OPCTI.

"OPC technology can provide the answer once people understand how to use it".

"Hands-on training workshops enable automation professionals to gain proficiency that would otherwise take months of frustrating effort to learn on their own".

Topics covered in the workshops include OPC and DCOM diagnostics, system architecture, OPC client application design, and OPC server design.

OPCTI is the only company that is sanctioned by the OPC Foundation to award the Certified OPC Professional (COP) designation.

Holders of the COP designation have demonstrated proficiency with OPC technology, design architecture, and installations.

People earn their COP designation by successfully passing OPC exams administered by OPCTI.
