Government needs to support vocational training
The Government needs to be more supportive of firms willing to participate in vocational qualifications and training schemes, a West Midlands' engineering company has warned
"As a result, we are seeing the industry build robust and scalable industrial data networks more cost effectively and in less time than traditionally has been the case".
OPC is an industrial connectivity standard that enables process control and manufacturing applications to communicate with each other using an interoperable, reliable and secure connection.
Interoperability is apparent due to support by over 3000 companies with well over 15,000 unique OPC applications.
"OPCTI is pleased to welcome InduSoft as a partner", says Randy Kondor, President of OPCTI.
"InduSoft is well known and respected within industry as a major HMI and Scada vendor and their support for the COP designation reinforces their commitment to provide high quality products and services".
Marcia Gadbois, Vice President of Business Development at InduSoft agrees that the partnership is really all about a commitment to customer service.
"We want our customers and other partners to have options - virtually unlimited options as they plan, design, and implement HMI and Scada systems".
"So we offer nearly 240 communication drivers for high-speed, reliable, real-time communications with historians, databases, DCSs, PLCs and other process control equipment and systems".
Gadbois goes on to recognise the need for OPC: "We do recognise, however, that many customers may also have requirements that make OPC a better choice for their operation".
"That reality makes the need for OPC training paramount for many of our customers - and that's the thinking behind this strategic partnership with OPCTI; to ensure our customers can get the training they need when OPC is right for their business".
Topics covered in the workshops include OPC and DCOM diagnostics, system architecture, OPC client application design, and OPC server design.
OPCTI is the only company endorsed by OPC Foundation member companies to award the Certified OPC Professional (COP) designation.
Holders of the COP designation have demonstrated proficiency with OPC technology, design architecture and installations.
