The OPC Training Institute (OPCTI) has released a white paper that discusses how automation integrators can use standards-based OPC technology to share data between two or more control systems.
The white paper discusses the need to 'bridge' control systems and explains how to do it using third-party applications.
The paper addresses many of the questions and concerns engineers, process control personnel, integrators, end users and automation professionals have when using OPC technology to bridge control systems.
The section headers within the paper are: Introduction, OPC Overview, Connectivity, Challenge Bridging Concepts, Connecting to OPC Servers, Mapping OPC Items, OPC Bridge Execution Key, OPC Bridge Considerations and Available OPC Bridge Products.
