Head brings tubes and sheets together

An Orbimatic product story

The P16M is an orbital TIG welding head for welding tubes to tube sheets in applications such as boilers, heat exchangers and economisers.

The P16M is an orbital TIG welding head for welding tubes to tube sheets in applications such as boilers, heat exchangers and economisers.

The P16M uses a mandrel which is inserted in to the ID of the tube and welding torch is rotated around a tube to weld the tube to the tube sheet.

The P16M is supplied by Orbimatic and can be controlled by the Orbimat 250C orbital welding power supply which will control the whole welding cycle.

The Orbimat 250C power supply can supply up to 2000 welding procedures which include applications details such as tungsten type geometry, arc gap and material types.

The Orbimat 250 also checks the welding parameters to two decimal places 500 times per second and adjusts as and when necessary to ensure repeatable welds are produced.

The P16M has and onboard wire feed unit which rotates with the weld head to avoid distortion of the filler wire and the arc gap is controlled by a voltage sensor which is integrated into the Orbimat 250C.

The weld torch and head body are both water-cooled.

This ensures consistent weld profiles are produced when used in production applications.

For more basic applications Orbimatic can provide the P20 weld head which is a simplified version of the P16M.
