Oriental has added 60W and 90W models to its range of power-off activated electromagnetic brake motors already boasting 6W, 25W and 40W options.

Highly suited for applications in which loads must be held and also as emergency safety brakes, the units consist of an electromagnetic brake coupled to a reversible ac motor and are activated when the power is removed.

The units provide a holding brake force ranging from 30mNm to 500mNm, suitable for a wide variety of applications.

The range is available in single-phase 110/115V or 220/230V, 50Hz or 60Hz options, and come in pinion or round shaft alternatives.

In addition, a number of optional linear and right-angled gearheads are available, as are aluminium mounting brackets to install motors used without gearheads.

Dielectric strength for the motors is sufficient to withstand 1.5kV at 50Hz or 60Hz and ambient operating temperature ranges from -10C to +40C.

All models are approved under UL and CSA standards and conform to EN/IEC standards.

Furthermore, 6W models are impedance protected, and the rest of the motors feature built in thermal protection, which automatically cuts the power to stop the motor should it overheat, thus preventing unwanted damage.
