AC motors, steppers and fans in new catalogue
The latest product catalogue from Oriental Motors (UK) is now available, and reflects the shift from power motors to control motors, and from individual components to multi-purpose systems.
New brushless motors less than half the length
The all-new AXU Series of Brushless Motors and Controllers is some 55% shorter than its equivalents making it ideal for applications where space is at a premium.
Both announcements can only mean more good news for engineers and designers.
Oriental Motor has a very specific quality ethic: "If we cannot supply a product that does exactly what the customer needs then we would rather not supply a product at all".
The company takes this belief extremely seriously.
It is because of this that these two recent announcements have been made.
The first to product to benefit, the company's FPW AC motor range, has been upgraded to IP67 from IP65.
This increase has been invoked not because of a redesign but because the motors have demonstrated this IP capability in the field over the past four years.
"We have always known that the motors had IP67 capabilities but, due to the company's quality ethic and an element of conservatism, they were supplied as IP65.
However, substantial use in the field has confirmed our initial confidence, hence the upgrade", elaborated Mark Checkley at Oriental Motor.
"As an interesting aside, the motors actually surpass the IP67 guidelines.
The standard dictates immersion to a depth of 1m for 30min, Oriental performs all of its testing under continuous conditions, so 30min or 30 days, it makes no difference".
Two other ranges will benefit from an improved IP rating.
Both the AXU and AXH brushless motor ranges, which offer constant torque over a wide speed range, have been uprated from IP54 to IP65.
Once again, these improved operating parameters are due to proof of operation in the field.
