The latest product catalogue from Oriental Motors (UK) is now available, and reflects the shift from power motors to control motors, and from individual components to multi-purpose systems.
New brushless motors less than half the length
The all-new AXU Series of Brushless Motors and Controllers is some 55% shorter than its equivalents making it ideal for applications where space is at a premium.
Of particular interest to end-users is the unit's smooth drive function, which significantly reduces speed fluctuations, vibration and audible noise during operation.
Oriental Motor sees applications in a variety of industries including medical equipment, laser measuring systems and microscope positioning systems In microstep operating mode, the CRK driver provides 25 preset angle selections up to a capability of 250 microsteps per full step.
The basic step angle can be adjusted to match a two-phase stepping motor's step angles, so a switchover from the two-phase microstep mode can be easily made without having to change input pulses.
Thanks to the development of new ICs and a new current control method, the advanced CRK board-level driver is only 65mm long by 45mm wide - 47.5% smaller than the conventional full step driver - and weighs just 40g.
The CRK series is available in four frame sizes: 20, 28, 42 and 60mm.
There are a wide range of motors to choose from including standard models, high torque models and geared models and motors are available with step motor holding torques ranging from 0.023Nm (20mm frame size) to 1.62Nm (60mm frame size).
The high torque models achieve 30 to 50% higher torque by adopting new design technology for the 20, 28 and 42mm frame sizes.
A wide selection of geared motors is available for the 28, 42 and 60mm frame sizes.
The standard tapered hob TH gear type has gear ratios from 3.6:1 to 30:1 with a maximum backlash of 60arc-min.
The planetary PN gear type possesses gear ratios from 5:1 to 50:1 with a maximum backlash of 3arc-min while the harmonic HG gear type provides gear ratios of 50:1 and 100:1 with no backlash.
There are 82 different combinations of step motor frame sizes and gear types for the user to choose from.
The CRK series is designed to conform to both UL/CSA recognised standards and EMC directives.
