TM-Series is torque motor with power controller

An Oriental Motor product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 17, 2008

The TM-Series from Oriental Motor comprises a torque motor with power controller.

The torque adjustment of the TM-Series is realised by changing the voltage applied to the motor.

The TM-Series is perfect for winding applications, push-motion mechanisms and other situations where torque must be adjusted over a wide range.

The main design criteria when developing the power controller unit was the user-friendliness.

The torque setting is achieved by potentiometer or an external DC voltage of 5 or 10VDC.

Using the potentiometer, the user can adjust the slight variations between the set torque and the actual torque output of the motor.

This fine-tuning function realises the adjustment in applications of multiple motor-operated machines.

Compared to conventional models the accuracy of the set torque is improved considerably.

The distance between motor and power controller can be up to 20m, guaranteeing a flexible usage in various applications.

For easy wiring the design of the power controller provides separate terminals for power supply and control signal.

The controller can be mounted directly to a DIN rail.

The TM-Series is available with four output power types between 3 and 20W, including geared versions with standard gear or linear gearhead.

The product supports the power supply voltages used in major countries worldwide, is RoHS-compliant and marked with UL and CE.

Due to their special characteristics, torque motors are ideal for winding applications operating with constant speed and tension.

The braking force of a torque motor can be used to tension the material as it is wound to remove slacks.

Since a torque motor provides stable torque in a locked state or near-locked operation at low speed, it is suitable for applications where screws and so on are tightened.
