These high speed, high resolution devices have the unique ability to measure and control applied force in real time, under computer command.

When combined with SMAC's patented "softland" procedure, this allows them to perform delicate pick and place routines and gauging operations with a landing force of only a few grams.

Built-in linear encoders, standard on all models, provide direct position feedback and allow closed-loop servo control of motion.

The direct-drive nature of the voice-coil linear motor means backlash inherent in other systems is completely eliminated, giving repeatability figures as low as +/-1um.

Low friction with minimal moving mass provides dynamic performance unmatched by other devices in the same price range.

SMAC actuators are available in linear, linear/rotary, gripper and x-y combinations and typical applications include high speed pick-and-place, gauging/probing, automated assembly with 100% product test and high resolution positioning.
