Cost-effective PC control of up to eight servos
Ormec is introducing ServoWire SM, a new approach to "soft motion" control that reduces the cost and complexity of open PC-based motion control solutions.
Software building blocks speed servo design
Ormec's ServoWire SM now offers a MotionObjects ActiveX control to speed software development using Visual Basic.
The NI SoftMotion Controller is a soft motion interface between NI-Motion driver software and distributed intelligent drives.
Users now can program IEEE1394-based ServoWire SM drives from Ormec with the easy-to-use NI-Motion API in LabView.
A distributed motion architecture offers many advantages over centralised motion, including simplified cabling with lower setup and maintenance costs.
The NI SoftMotion Controller for IEEE1394 is compatible with any Ormec ServoWire SM drive.
Users can daisychain up to 15 drives together and connect them to the real-time host.
The real-time isochronous mode of the IEEE1394 bus transfers data between the drives and the host.
ServoWire SM drives are designed to offer high performance motion control using all-digital servodrives connected via an open standard FireWire network.
Three series of drives (230, 460 and LP) offer solutions with power from 200 to 24,000W and continuous current output from 2.4 to 60A RMS per phase.
ServoWire drives operate on DC, 115, 230 or 460V AC input power, provide both output short circuit and overvoltage protection and are certified to UL and CE standards.
