A new series of inductive displacement sensors claims new standards in fast, precise measurement sensing.

A new series of inductive displacement sensors claims new standards in fast, precise measurement sensing Designed specifically for metal measurement applications, the ZX-E series has an accuracy of better than 1um, and offers the same kind of high-speed response as that of photoelectric sensors

Its ability to immediately spot the smallest errors or discrepancies in production processes makes the ZX-E series ideal for use in high-tech environments like the packaging, metal processing, machinery, automotive and semiconductor industries.

The ZX-E series is based on Omron's unique plug and play concept, in which a wide variety of interchangeable sensor heads can be connected to the same amplifier.

Five different sensor heads can be connected to the amplifier, with sensing distances ranging from 0.5 up to 7mm.

One of the sensor heads - the ZX-EDR5T - has a diameter of just 3mm, making it the smallest currently available.

Many of the ZX-E's features and functions are unique.

The smart calculation function, for example, uses a calculation unit to measure the thickness of an object and display the results on the sensor head.

The Simple Linearity Adjustment feature enables the linearity of the sensor to be adjusted for different types of metals, ferrous and nonferrous.

Teaching functions can be performed at 0, 50 and 100% of the measurement distance from the object to the sensor head, and the amplifier then confirms the result.

The ZX-E is easy to set up and operate.

Five operation keys provide total control of the amplifier, enabling users to operate advanced functions that include reverse display, eco mode, number of figures for display, display saving mode, operation lock, function lock, zero reset, various hold and timer functions, and timing and reset input.

The sensor's easy-to-read Resolution Display can display and verify the resolution of the object being measured in real time.

With this feature it is easy to learn the margin for threshold values, which allows accurate judgements on whether or not detection is possible.

A dual digital display feature makes setting up and maintaining the ZX-E sensor a straightforward process.

The ZX-E also has a mutual interference prevention function that enables up to five sensors to be combined very closely together.

This feature enables multiple measurements to be made in a machine or a process.

The ZX-E sensor can be used with Omron's SmartMonitor V2 software and an interface unit that makes it easy to connect to a notebook or PC.

All settings can be saved on a computer, and reloaded based on production requirements.

Data logging results can be processed and stored automatically (as an Excel csv file) for quality control information, leading to smoother production runs.

On top of it ZX-E series can be combined with the ZX-Laser series in order to solve a wider application range.
