Orion Engineering Services has acquired Cogan Resources, a specialist in the provision of contract personnel for the worldwide oil and gas industry.

Cogan's portfolio brings Orion a perfect blend of clients and experienced personnel with a wealth of expertise gained since 1950 when the original Cogan organisation started business in Pall Mall London.

Managing Director of Cogan Resources, Michael Thackery, will be retained as a consultant to ensure smooth transition of personnel and to maintain links with clients which have been developed over the last 30 years.

Thackery said: "Orion and Cogan Resources have a long-standing relationship and have worked together in the past on many occasions, often sharing clients".

"There has always been a mutual respect for each other's high standard of service and professionalism".

"The merger represents the natural fit of two similar companies and is part of the Orion Group philosophy to enhance their capabilities as an international organisation in order to meet the challenges and demands of worldwide business in the 21st century".
