Leading microswitch and joystick manufacturer Otehall Switches has seen a substantial worldwide increase in demand for its 340 Series standard format snap-action microswitch.

Otehall has committed significant resources to continuously improve and expand the 340 Series, adding new approved ratings, improved specification materials and a wider choice of variants and customer specials.

Principle customers are within the white goods, garden equipment and security alarm markets, where competitive pricing, assured quality and internationally recognized approvals are necessary.

Key new features introduced include T150ø approval for variants with electrical ratings up to 16(4)A 250v AC according to EN 61058 pr t (ENEC), and full disconnection 3mm contact gap switches rated to 16(3)A 250v AC according to EN 61058 pt 1 (ENEC).

Low operating force 75 gm switches are supplied with ratings to 16.1A 250v AC according to EN 61058 pt 1 (ENEC).

The switch body/lid is manufactured in material that passes Glow Wire test at 850øC, and with no flame at 750øC according to the IEC 695-2-1/3.

Mr Colin Miles, Senior Engineer at Otehall said "The approvals rationalisation that has taken place due to the use of the ENEC mark has allowed us to significantly expand our approval range over the last two years.

Having established a good working relationship with the approvals house DEMKO we have the ability to achieve new approved variants in line with market requirements, and within a relatively short period of time".

Mr Charles Beer, Managing Director, said "It is our aim to have one of the most versatile and widely approved ranges of microswitches on the market.

Our experience of more than 50 years allows us to offer unrivalled technical and commercial support to our customers, and we are planning further new ratings, terminal variants and approvals for 2002".
